If students did not finish their Geocentric / Heliocentric handout, they should finish it at home. It will be due tomorrow.
Quiz is moved to Thursday!

This week we will continue to learn about early models of the universe. From there we will begin investigating how gravity and inertia keep our universe organized and in perfect motion.
Please check Parent Vue. I have almost all grades in the grade book but there are several students missing work. Please remind your students to turn in work. Quiz Tuesday - We will have a quiz Tuesday over the early universe, heliocentric and geocentric models. First things first...the BLOG - The first of the year is full and underway. Our science team has been reflecting on the first few weeks. We have come to the decision to have a Team Blog, but keep individual tabs. This will allow us to better communicate with you.
What's been going on - We have been discussing the beginning of the universe and it has sparked some great conversations. Ask your student about their 'What If...' creative writing assignment. (Yes, we can creatively write in science!) They were amazing. This assignment really got the kids thinking about how much space is out there and what we really don't know. This Week - We will study our place in space and where the solar system fits in the Milky Way Galaxy. The kids will be creating a model of where the solar system fits in the Milky Way and label it's location. It will be a fun project. We will then study the early astronomers and how technology changed their thinking of how the solar system worked. I hope to have a little quiz over the early astronomers and their theories the first of next week. HOMEWORK - 1) There are several homework assignments the students should be working on. Page 37 (Lesson 2) for their working text is due on Wednesday. 2) They also have Astronomy Vocabulary 1 due on Friday. They were instructed to place the vocabulary list in the 3rd section of their 3 subject notebook, list the word, underline the word, and write the definition. They will have other options for vocabulary after this one, however, I want to make sure they have the content before we go much further. I hope to have directions (that work) on how to access the textbook from home soon. I would like students to not have to carry those large books around unless totally necessary. |
