I have to give a big thank you to you all! This year has been my favorite yet and the reason is because of YOUR kiddos. They are not only wonderful human beings, they are smart, inquisitive, and want to TELL you ALL about it.
Also, I must thank you so much for your generosity. I am so humbled by all the gifts and thoughts you have shared with me this holiday. I'm not sure I deserve you all. I hope you have a very Happy Holiday season and love one another. - Mrs. NeSmith

ONE WEEK BEFORE BREAK....
We are all ready for the holidays, but there is still much to do. We are reviewing for the test on Wednesday. Today we read the wind article and students needed to finish the worksheet as homework. If they need to read the article it is listed in my last post. Tuesday we will go over the article and work on the study guide. Extra Credit - if your student would like to complete extra credit, they can click on the link below and complete the 'Quiz'. This is a study tool. This is NOT a grade, simply a way for them to see what they know and do not know. There are embedded videos so it is better if they answer incorrectly. If it completed prior to Wednesday morning, they can earn an additional 2 points on the test. Wednesday we will be taking the test. Thursday and Friday is early release and we will be conducting experiments. There are still many students out due to illness. Please follow the below links for activities that are missed. Thursday: Coriolis activity - We completed the activity using a balloon, however, you can complete the activity at home using a ball and an Expo marker. (A solid surface ball works best). Friday: We will complete some practice figuring out local winds, read an article and complete the questions regarding the article. I will also hand out the study guide for the test next week. Depending on the understanding of the class will determine if the test is on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Please check Parent View for any missing assignments. Grades will be due next week and I would like to give as much credit as possible. We have had quite a few students out this week and I expect to have more. We are reading about wind pages 276 - 284, highlighting the important parts and completing notes. I will place the completed notes on the blog later today. Here is what is happening this week. Monday: Read pages 278 - 280, highlight, complete notes Tuesday: Read pages 282 - 283, highlight, complete notes - Assign Lesson Review page 285 Wednesday: Guest speaker (IF STUDENTS HAVE MISSING WORK THEY WILL BE COMPLETING MISSING WORK, NOT ATTENDING THE SPEAKER) Thursday: Coriolis lab - Lesson Review and Wind Vocab Due Friday: Wind article and worksheet - due Monday if not complete
Please click the button below to fill out the survey below regarding the Chill Spot. This is always a fun activity for students and a great fundraiser for the school.
Thank you, Mrs. NeSmith We have had some really fun learning going on this week. We started with air pressure where we played with fire and hard boiled eggs...all under close supervision I assure you. We will continue to investigate winds and why they happen for the rest of the week. We have had 2 fun filled days of learning but it will be time to switch gears and do some applying. Tomorrow we will be completing a STEM experiment where students will create a model and present it to the class. It should be a great time. For the remainder of the week we will be reading and taking notes on wind. This is a difficult subject that has so many variables. Remember, there are always videos placed on the Unit page under the MORE... tab at the top.
