This week we began a rock investigation where students were able to categorize rocks by any means they wanted. They then watched videos and discussed how to actually identify the rocks. I had a great time watching them think and communicate with their classmates. Today we started a project on rocks. We are creating a rock portfolio culminating with the rock cycle process. This project will take us until right before the Science final (SGM scheduled for May 15th) to complete. I will be attaching articles for students to use if they need to work on the project at home. The first section, igneous rocks, will be due May 8th. I will post sedimentary rocks in a few days in case they would like to start early. Students are encouraged to use the articles, text book, videos from class, and the rock identification assignment they completed in class. ALSO, I am giving extra credit if any student brings in an igneous rock to show to the class.
