We have finished reading and noting important facts about the planets in the solar system. Tomorrow we will begin a Celestial Cruise Line brochure. Students will create a brochure showcasing that fabulous planets in our solar system. They will have 2 days in class to work on it and the weekend. I plan on having it due on Monday. However, depending on how the days go, I may have it due Tuesday.
Homework - To better prepare for the project, students are to complete Lesson 4 (page 71) #1 - 6, and #8 AND Lesson 5 (page 85) #1 - #8. This will be due on Friday. Students were assigned this today and several classes got a good start on the work. We have been learning about gravity and inertia. There are a ton of fun videos that do a good job of describing how they work together to keep our universe in balance. Today we took some hybrid Cornell notes. Students used the basic Cornell layout but I encouraged them to synthesize the information and recreate the notes. All in all, students did a good job and took ownership in their learning. Tomorrow, we will finish gravity and inertia by completing a lab.
What's next - We will begin learning about the planets next. Students will compile notes and create a cosmic travel guide. Students will have several days in class as well as time at home to complete the project. This will be a summative assessment and I anticipate it being due September 17th, however, that may change. Homework - Students currently have vocabulary 2 due. I will be checking it tomorrow. If they do not finish the followup questions with the lab, they will need to complete it for homework. |
