We have just begun our weather project. Students will work with a partner to show what they have learned about air masses and fronts by completing a weather report. They will work with a partner and present a forecast for anywhere in the United States. This a fun way to show what they know! Please see below for a rubric and helpful video. (Project instructions may look slightly different from your student's. There was a little confusion when we went over it in class so I edited the document to make it more clear.) Presentation Due Dates: Thursday: 1st and 2nd Periods Friday: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Periods

They are then to complete the lesson review on page 335. 1st & 2nd periods due Thursday 3rd, 4th, 5th due Friday Upcoming project: Students will begin a project on Thursday where they will work with a partner to create a weather report. They will use their knowledge of air pressure, air masses, and fronts to forecast the upcoming weather. We are still learning about winds, but taking it one step further to investigate air masses. This will be where we tie winds into weather. This is always a fun unit and students get very invested in 'what has to happen to NOT have school tomorrow'. (I find this is the best way to learn about weather... ) Due to the FABULOUS long weekend, several classes will have homework for the air mass graphic organizer. (See files below for information to complete graphic organizer.) Homework as follows: 1st period - due at the beginning of class Tuesday 2nd and 3rd periods - due at the beginning of class Wednesday Have a peaceful and restful 3 day weekend, Mrs. NeSmith
We have been studying global and local winds. We have been paying special attention to Australia and how the global and local winds are transporting smoke and to New Zealand and how local winds are not helping firefighters. At the end of the week we will be learning about air masses and how these masses create weather. ***Ask your students about how to get an egg into a bottle*** |
