It has been a long week of testing and learning and the kids did GREAT! We are currently working on soil and kids did a great collecting samples and creating questions to investigate. Today students are collecting information from various sources. I am attaching an article and diagram to assist them with the packet. THE PACKET IS DUE ON MONDAY. We will use the packet to complete the investigation and create a presentation for next week. This presentation will be a group summative grade. We will be completing the year learning about rocks and students will be working on a cumulative project. Please keep a look out because students will need to complete much of it at home. Don't forget about our hike on Sunday. If you are interested, please email me so I know to keep a look out for you! I would like to try something new this year. I enjoy hiking and would like to share my love with the kids. There is an environmental trail on Kennesaw Mountain that I would like to go on. This trail has many examples of the topics we are currently studying. It would be fun and relevant for students to be able to see science in REAL LIFE. I will be hiking on Sunday April 28th and would love you all to join me. We can meet in the parking lot in front of the Visitor Center at 2pm (hike leaving at 2:15). Please email me if you are interested. Feel free to carpool with other students in other classes as all of my classes are invited AND Ms. Boyd and Ms. Brown will be attending! - Mrs. NeSmith
StudWe have been working really hard finishing up weathering and erosion. Students have completed a lab, lesson reviews and graphic organizers. We will be testing over the element on Friday. Cheat Sheet - I decided to try a new tactic. I am letting all students complete a cheat sheet for the test. I am giving them 1 index card where they can write on one side only for the test. They can use any tool they would like. (I would recommend their notes or the study guide they were given). Please have the 'cheat sheet' ready by the end of class Friday. Grades - I am putting in all the grades I have. I have gone over all the missing work with students. I have told students that I am giving then until Thursday to turn in all missing work and then it goes in the grade book as a 0. They can still turn it in late but they will be loosing points. Please discuss this with your student. I have MANY students with missing work (0's) that is going to negatively affect their grades. Be on the watch for grades. Study Guide - I was disappointed that more students did not complete the study guide prior to attending class. I went over the answers with those who had it completed and the others had the opportunity to work on it. Below is an answer key.
