We have started our weather unit and the kids have really been working hard. I have started a few new strategies after break. Note taking: We have spent a great deal of time reading and discussing what topics are important and what areas should be highlighted in the text. We have moved on to the next step, Cornell Notes. Some students have experience with these notes but most do not. I am providing templates for them to complete as a group. So far they have been working really well, the conversations, and learning are wonderful. Students will be placing notes in their two pocket folder. They may want to transition to a 3-ring binder so they can keep everything in 1 place. Completely up to them (and you). Homework: Most students did not finish the graphic organizer today. They will need to use the attached information to complete the organizer. They will be using it for the weather project that I will introduce tomorrow. I will take it for a grade. Project: Students will be working in a group to produce a weather forecast. They will be writing a script and recording it in front of a green screen. They will be demonstrating their understanding of how air masses affect weather. The project should take us through the end of next week.
